Hold on to your lashes!
I’m not one to spend a ton of time on my makeup, and I don’t like overdone makeup, I like to look natural (although now that I’m starting to show my age, I probably should use a bit more!) But for me, I tend to sweat a lot, and also I tend to be fidgety and touch my face a lot. And so too much makeup can have me looking pretty bad, my white tops end up with makeup around the necklines, and the makeup can end up looking splotchy and not where it’s supposed to be. So my low-makeup-usage “natural” look is as much a preference as it is my way of avoiding these ugly problems. Better to have no or little makeup then have it end up embarrassingly where it’s not supposed to be, and with the creased or splotchy look.
But, I rarely leave the house without at least some mascara on the lashes, if not a little more eye makeup. I have a love/hate relationship with mascara, can’t live without it, but finding one that stays where I put it, and doesn’t leave me with raccoon eyes, is a challenge I’ve never fully solved. Even the waterproof mascaras are not so waterproof on me. Again, my fidgeting doesn’t help, and my eyes tend to be watery sometimes, and I like to always put moisturizer around my eyes to keep the skin in as good condition as I can. All these things make it unlikely that my lashes look as good at the end of the day as they started out. And if a mascara is fairly hardy, it tends to pull my lashes out when I try to take it off. And the slightest bit of water on my face and I’ve got black flakes all around my eyes.
I never thought I’d be a false lash kinda girl, I don’t like how unnatural they can look. But… I’m starting to rethink this given my struggle, and I’ve moved to a warmer climate, so I’m sweating all that much more. I was intrigued by the new magnetic lashes because I don’t like the idea of glue in my eyes (I wear contacts), and it’s messy, and it can pull out natural lashes too. But sheesh, I’ve never succeeded in getting those double sets of magnetic lashes on there so they look natural and I don’t have an hour to spend every morning trying!
BOOM! Game-changer… I found this awesome magnetic eye liner from a company called LashLiner ! The company also sells sets with their liner AND magnetic lashes in two different styles so far (more to come), but you can use their eyeliner with ANY magnetic lash. And the eyeliner stays put!!! (with one caveat, more below). The only thing here is that you have to train your steady hand for putting on a liquid liner, but that’s a skill I’d like to have anyway.
Just put on a couple of coats of eyeliner, wait a minute or so until it’s tacky, then apply the lashes. It’s so cool because you can feel the lashes “click” gently into place along the liner line. And they really stay on! (As long as you keep your fidgety fingers away from your eyes!) And if they do come off, just click them back into place Although this is where the caveat comes in… bring your liner with you because sometimes a little of the liner will stick to the magnets on the lashes in a place or two, and you’ll need to do a tiny touch up in order for the lashes to stay again.
But I’ll take it! This makes false lashes so much easier!!! And I love that this product is from a startup in my hometown of Seattle, WA.
